First of all, thankyou Sharon for making a category for the 2012 Olympics and making me Mod. And to get this underway, there was an 8-page spread in 1 of the national papers on 27 July to start the 2 year countdown to the start of the Olympics. And they were saying that 70,000 volunteers are needed, hence the 'V for Victory.' Or 'game makers' as they will be called. I won't be one of them but 70,000 people is a lot. But I'm guessing there'll be a lot of people offering their services for this role. Right now, the Olympic Village is under construction, but below is how the finished article will look. I'll keep you posted on any news and updates. Attachments:

Very impressive Louise. I was not able to volunteer for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver (primarily due to financial reasons) but one of my bosses did and she absolutely LOVED every moment of it.

Really? How lucky for your boss. I bet it's a terrific experience. Imagine getting to see so many of the games and athletes. Must be such an amazing experience.

Yes she has lots of wonderful stories. She also got to see a lot of the events for free and she got Olympic gear (jackets, gloves, etc.) given to her.
She is originally from Vancouver and had the luxury of being able to stay at her brother's home while he was away on vacation so it was not an expensive ordeal for her.
I doubt she will ever forget the experience.
