Here's another little story, what a week. We went to dinner last night and as we leaving I spotted someone I recognised from years ago in Sydney. It was a motocyclist that we used to ride with in the 50+ motorcycle club in the '90s. I was Treasurer of the Northern Beaches Ulysses Club at one stage. www.ulyssesclub.org/There was a group of them having dinner at our club, they had ridden 2,000 kms already, and we had a good old yarn. Then another one of them sauntered back with a drink..... and he went back to when we were in the Coastal Cruising Club. At one time he edited the monthly magazine, The Mainsheet, and I folded it for mailing. This site has a slideshow of places and includes places we used to raft up with them. sites.google.com/site/cccaust/Home/photo-library-1So that was an unexpected end to the evening. Pic.... a raft up weekend away from the website Attachments:

Last night I had a dream about Ocean Shores, WA. It has the biggest sandy beach I've ever seen. There are miles and miles of beach as far as the eye can see in any direction. We drove right onto the beach like everyone does and set up to spend the day having fun. There are so many things going on all summer long, horses, dune buggies, and kite flying to name a few. There's something there for everyone. Attachments:

Thought I would tell you about the 93 hectares Hemer Provincial Park which is located just a short walk from my front door. There is an extensive 11 kilometer forested trail system which I have not even began to explore and it apparently is a favourite destination for bird watchers and ornithologists. A viewing platform over the marsh, approximately 1 km from the parking lot, provides the opportunity to observe various types of ducks, Trumpeter swans, Bald eagles and turkey vultures, as well as beavers. Hemer Park was a gift from John and Violet Hemer of Cedar, BC in 1981. Homesteaded in 1860, the park still contains remains of the farmstead, offering a look at the region’s farming history. The Pacific Coal Company railway traveled along the shores of the lake; their abandoned right of way now forms a trail called Heritage Way. The trails are forested, primarily with a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees including second-growth Douglas fir, red alder and big-leaf maple. Trails are not marked but are easily identifiable and well maintained. The marsh is an important wetland habitat that supports a wide diversity of specifics. Holden Lake is home to trout, minnows and sculpins. The lake is also one of only two lakes on Vancouver Island that contain the Pea Mouth Chubb. This fish spawns in the creek between the lake and the marsh at the end of April. Hemer Park provides day-use opportunities at Holden Lake, a peaceful setting for paddlers, boaters and anglers. I had to look up Ornithology so just in case you are like me and are not familiar with the word it is a branch of zoology that concerns the study of birds. There is even a society, British Columbia Field Ornithologists that was formed in 1991 by keen birders and dedicated ornithologists. The purposes of the Society are the study and enjoyment of wild birds in British Columbia. www.bcfo.ca/Attachments:
