Puppies puppies puppies are the topic of most conversations in my home these past 8 weeks so my journal for today has to be an update on their progress.
On Thursday they all went to the Vet for their check ups which they passed with flying colours. We are waiting for the micro chips to arrive from CKC and then most of them will be going to their new homes.
Two of the little girls are going to stay and live with Yvonne and I, and one little red & white boy is still for sale.
It really has been quite the experience. They have been a lot of work and in the early days a lot of worry as it is like our own children when they are babies we constantly worry that they are okay, that they are breathing, that they are getting enough to eat -- you name it you worry. All that being said there also is a lot of enjoyment. They are each and every one very well socialized (my grand daughters have played a big role in this, lol), very healthy and happy little girls and boys.
We had loving help from Kendra and from our neighbour, Joan, from across the road and would we do it again .... YES .... we most certainly would. This was our first successful attempt at breeding. We made some mistakes and we have learned a few things along the way which is always a good thing. Bulk buying of wipes and puppy pads is a MUST for example and Costco is the most economical place to get the wipes and PetSmart has the best prices, by far, on the puppy pads and I JUST today noticed that they offer free shipping on orders over $49 and that is absolutely ideal as the biggest problem sometimes with puppies is being able to "escape" long enough to run way across to the North End of town to get the supplies. Woo Hoo -- I use online shopping with free shipping at every opportunity I can (for other purchases) as it is a definite time saver and prevents "impulse" buying.
Yvonne is extremely particular about the homes they are going to and she has done a fabulous job at screening their new humans. All but one will be staying on Vancouver Island .... one little boy will begin a new adventure in Texas. They will be missed.
They have given us so many memories -- each puppy is unique with its precious markings and temperament -- what an experience.
Next we really MUST move. We live in a lovely home in a rural/urban setting but we really need a more rural area.
Have a blessed Sunday each of you and can not wait to hear from you soon.
Love,
Sharon
