I was looking for something to post for Blue Monday on my blogspot.... I usually post outdoor scenes. Anyway I decided to talk about my harp. "I have a harp, it was my retirement gift to myself. I was listening to the radio early one morning ... like 5.30am .... and a woman of about my age called in and asked for advice about starting to play the harp and got a positive response. Well I jumped up and went online and found a place that makes harps only about 80kms from us. I should tell you now that my playing-a- musical-instrument experience was a few months on the piano at about eight years of age, and when I said I didn't like going I was allowed to leave.... how I regret that! I have had the harp some years now, and am embarrassed to say that I have not put the time in to become proficient, and I had a problem with my glasses.... I see 3 strings instead of one..... the harp just isn't far enough away.... and in our rural community there aren't any harp teachers. Never mind.... I've got it out again, found the spare music stand, pulled out the "Teach yourself to play the harp" books.... and I'm going to have a serious attempt. There are some jokes that owning a harp is 95% tuning up and 5% playing, but Barry checked it, and it is still in tune from my last attempt. " Attachments:

Thank you Sharon, I keep thinking if I mention the harp, it will inspire me, and I will work on it. I just love anything to do with harps..... does anyone else like Celtic Woman.... I really love it when I get a glimpse of a harp in their performances. I see they have been in Australia and will be performing in Canada next. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRxJ8vfym2UAttachments:

I have not heard of them until your post Jan. I do love Celtic music though so I am sure I would enjoy watching their performance but I doubt they will be coming to my Island in the Pacific.

They are not coming to the west coast at all -- nothing west of Saskatchewan which is one of our Prairie Provinces (pretty much middle of our grand land). Oh well, perhaps next time.

Well I think the DVDs would probably be better value these days, unless of course you can afford to be right up the front at concerts. As it happens Barry was chatting with a neighbour, John, over the front fence yesterday, and John mentioned they went to an Andre Rieu concert in Brisbane, and they were miles back, half behind a pillar, and came home convinced they would buy the DVD next time.
Of course there is a special atmosphere about attending a live concert.

It's been years since I attended a live concert. No, you can't beat actually going and seeing it live, but if you haven't got the view, then the DVD is better for that. Great atmosphere being there though.

I have only been to a very few live concerts .... I have a tendency to get anxious in large crowds of people so I prefer to watch them on television or as you say get a DVD and listed to them.
