Point of Grace - Circle of Friends would have to be one of my all time favourites ..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt-TZOStJTUSharon Here are the Lyrics We were made to love and be loved But the price this world demands Will cost you far too much I spent so many lonely years Just trying to fit in Now I've found a place in this circle of friends In a circle of friends We have one Father In a circle of friends We share this prayer That every orphaned soul will know And all will enter in To the shelter of this circle of friends If you weep, I will weep with you If you sing for joy The rest of us will lift our voices too But no matter what you feel inside There's no need to pretend That's the way it is in this circle of friends In a circle of friends We have one father In a circle of friends We share this prayer That's we'll gather together No matter how the highway bends I will not lose this circle of friends Among the nations, tribes and tongues We have sisters and brothers And when we meet in heaven We will recognize each other With joy so deep And love so sweet Oh, we'll celebrate these friends And a life that never ends In a circle of friends We have one Father In a circle of friends We share this prayer That it will not be long before All will enter in To the shelter of this circle of friends That it will not be long before All will enter in To the shelter of this circle of friends Attachments:

About Point of Grace song, Sharon, I thought it may have been different singers. I love the words, they are certainly very precious, but have to admit that the recording was a bit much for me over and over on the newsletter, and I used to turn it down.
Showing my age!!

I know exactly what you are saying Jan. It is lovely to hear once but over and over while reading the newsletter was not necessary -- my mistake.

Well today's Tuesday Tune for me has got to be Aaron Tippin's " You've Got to Stand for Something" -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_s-Qk07KxAYou've Got To Stand For Something Now Daddy didn't like trouble, but if it came along Everyone that knew him knew which side that he'd be on He never was a hero, or this county's shinin' light But you could always find him standing up For what he thought was right He'd say you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything You've got to be your own man not a puppet on a string Never compromise what's right and uphold your family name You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything Now we might have been better off or owned a bigger house If Daddy had done more givin' in or a little more backing down But we always had plenty just living his advice Whatever you do today you'll have to sleep with tonight He'd say you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything You've got to be your own man not a puppet on a string Never compromise what's right and uphold your family name You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything Now I know that things are different than they were in Daddy's days But I still believe what makes a man really hasn't changed You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything You've got to be your own man not a puppet on a string Never compromise what's right and uphold your family name You've got to tsand for something or you'll fall for anything You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything Attachments:

My Choice for the week has to be: She Works Hard for the Money by Donna Summer www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TKQcWEXSKUI have lots of fun memories of singing along and dancing to this when I was younger and working hard and listening to it today now that I am much older and working hard still makes me happy to sing it and to dance about the house, lol. I hope you all sing along with me .... here are the lyrics: She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right Onetta there in the corner stand and wonders where she is and it's strange to her some people seem to have everything Nine a.m. on the hour hand and she's waiting for the bell and she's looking real pretty just wait for her clientele She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right Twenty five years have come and gone and she' seen a lot of tears of the ones who come in they really seem to need her there It's a sacrifice working day to day for little money just tips for pay But it's worth it all just to hear them say that they care She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right She already knows she's seen her bad times she already knows these are the good times She'll never sell out she never will not for a dollar bill she works hard She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right She works hard for the money so hard for it honey she works hard for the money so you better treat her right Attachments:

Val Doonican www.valdoonican.com/is still around, Louise. He is 82 now and stopped his tours . When I moved I brought a couple of his tapes with me. The Spinning Wheel from one of them is another of my favourites. I have another with several children songs that my kids loved when they were small. Daphne

Thanks for the link, Daphne. I didnt realise he was still around lol. Dunno why, but I thought of Max Bygraves as well when you mentioned Val Doonican. I once saw Max live in my town. He was really good, for his age. Still got an amazing voice.

Here is a song by Jim Reeves that we've done at the Homes a few times recently. I am amazed that so many know it, and that it is such a favourite. The video shows many beautiful rose pics as a background to Jim's voice. In the Garden www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH81KZReikoI come to the garden alone While the dew is still on the roses And the voice I hear falling on my ear The Son of God discloses He speaks and the sound of His voice Is so sweet that the birds they hush their singing And the melody that He sends to me Within my heart is still ringing And, and He walks with me And He talks with me And He tells me that I am His own And the joy we share as we tarry, tarry there None other has ever, ever known None other has ever, ever known Attachments:

Glad you enjoyed it Jan.
If memory serves me correctly her mother was a librarian for the local school district. I remember attending a school related meeting at their home many years ago when I was active in the local Parent Advisory Council when Yvonne and Norman were in elementary school.

Yes, beautiful Daphne, we had all her LPs too, and would never miss her on TV. I think it was about the same time Dean Martin was on, both such lovely programs, nothing like it now! I agree, we can listen to just about anything we can think of, just clicking on Youtube. What an age we live in! Hugs and Blessings, Jan Attachments:

This song has always been able to make me smile and shed a tear. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8J8kb_639MMysterious People. Children are people who live in a land Made of raindrops and puddles and pebbles and streams Silently watching a twig as it sails On a clear crystal pool to an island of dreams There go a pair who have just built a city of mud And it's real They know that mud doesn't look very pretty But ooh, how it feels This little boy greets the snow with a smile That little girl has discovered an isle made out of pillows One little fellow is friends with the wind in the willows All of them children and all are mysterious people I can remember when I was a boy That my bed was a ship that I sailed through the night And I remember the world as a place That was eager and loving and shiny and bright Where is the boy who was friends with the rainbow And once rode upon Where is that shy and mysterious person Oh where have I gone I can remember I once said my prayers But now I stand by while my children say theirs Watching them kneeling And I could cry that one day they'll forget All that they're feeling Oh, what a shame that our children should grow into peo...ple

Sarah McLachlan was born on January 28th, in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, the daughter of Judy James, McLachlan was raised by her adoptive parents Jack, an American-born marine biologist, and Dorice McLachlan. "Hold On," was inspired by a documentary, A Promise Kept, about a woman whose fiance discovers he has AIDS. She was overwhelmed by the woman's strength and selflessness, so she wrote this song. It is an portrait of a woman's courage in the face of adversity. "Hold On" appeared on the No Alternative compilation album, the proceeds of which go to support AIDS research. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfsNEJdOYEoThe lyrics follow: Hold on Hold on to yourself For this is gonna hurt like hell Hold on Hold on to yourself You know that only time will tell What is it in me that refuses to believe This isn’t easier than the real thing My love You know that you’re my best friend You know I’d do anything for you My love Let nothing come between us My love for you is strong and true Am I in heaven here or am i... At the crossroads I am standing So now you’re sleeping peaceful I lie awake and pray That you’ll be strong tomorrow and we’ll See another day and we will praise it And love the light that brings a smile Across your face Oh God if you’re out there won’t you hear me I know that we’ve never talked before Oh God the man I love is leaving Won’t you take him when he comes to your door Am I in heaven here or am I in hell At the crossroads I am standing So now you’re sleeping peaceful I lie awake and pray That you’ll be strong tomorrow and we’ll See another day and we will praise it And love the light that brings a smile Across your face... Hold on Hold on to yourself For this is gonna hurt like hell I could go on and on about this wonderful lady but will talk about one more of hers and then I will go .... Sarah McLachlin also made a significant statement with her barebones video for "World On Fire," donating the lion's share of its original $150,000 budget to third-world relief organizations. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgmrCHPNaYE&ob=av2nHearts are worn in these dark ages You're not alone in this story's pages Night has fallen amongst the living and the dying And I try to hold it in, yeah I try to hold it in [Chorus] The world's on fire and It's more than I can handle I'll tap into the water (I try to pull my ship) I try to bring more More than I can handle (Bring it to the table) Bring what I am able I watch the heavens and I find a calling Something I can do to change this moment Stay close to me while the sky is falling Don't wanna be left alone, don't wanna be alone [Chorus] Hearts break, hearts mend Love still hurts Visions clash, planes crash Still there's talk of Saving souls, still the cold Is closing in on us We part the veil on our killer sun Stray from the straight line on this short run The more we take, the less we become A fortune of one that means less for some [Chorus X2] Attachments:
