One of my favourite places to go is Montville in QLD. It is on a plateau overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains in Qld. This pic is DH taking a photo of a magpie outside one of the cute galleries there. Attachments:

Last year my neighbour helped me plant two trees. One was a bing cherry tree and one was a peach tree. Nice of him wouldn't you say? Anyway this is rather embarrasing but I will tell you all the same. All along I thought the one closest to my home was the cherry tree and the other one the peach. NOT!!! I was out watering my little trees the other day and spotten something quite dark on one of the branches which on closer examination turned out to be a dark red (almost black) cherry. The only one on the tree but everything needs a beginning right. Cherry Tree Cherry Tree Leaf I gave this first cherry of what will become abundant crops (I hope) in the future to my eldest daughter Yvonne and she said it was delicious. So it was the reverse, what I thought was a cherry tree was a peach and vice versa. Peach Tree Peach Tree Leaf I know most of you are way smarter at this than I and would know by the leaves, etc. but I am learning, lol. I have taken pictures now of the trees and their leaves to add to my gardening journal 101. By the way no peaches this year but maybe next. Sharon PS .... Yes I know my two little trees look like they are related to the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree but we have been suffering through one of the dryest Julys in recent history here on Paradise Island. Just wait until you see how good they look next year! We can do a comparison.

Well if I just saw the first pic, I would have thought it was a peach tree, maybe that is because I have never seen a cherrry tree!!!
Look forward to seeing the trees laden with fruit next year.

Now and again I've made reference to living on a boat, which we did for five years around 1990-1995. It was a 36 foot Adams Motorsailer, 48 foot overall with bowsprit and davits. It had three cabins, one with ensuite and another head as well. We had TV and all mod cons, power with solar panels and 80HP engine. We went right out to sea and stayed in a few ports for various lengths of time. Attachments:

About living on the boat, no I don't miss it at all. We were in some tough situations at times, and also some memorably good ones, and we never ever got seasick. This next pic is waiting for the Harwood Bridge to open for us. Attachments:

Glad you gave the first fruit away, Sharon, doesn't matter to who. It is a custom I have with my roses, always give away the first.... to ensure more come. I have several cuttings in root hormone in the hope they'll take to share around, especially to my daughter on her return. And when the cuttings take, whoever gets them will be asked to carryon the tradition of giving away the first flowers. Charito has a cherry tree that gives her loads, the buds just swelling now... its the one tree/plant that has taken in her back garden, and she has one rose bush in the front, (pink, a colour I don't have, so she also gave me cuttings to try) Daphne

One of my favorite places to visit so far was Canmore, Alberta. I was there last summer for my son as he was in the Highland Games. My daughter and I went on an exploration of the mountains in the area and had a wonderful time as it was her first time actually seeing a mountain!! Attachments:

Lovely to meet you Dawn. That is great your son was in the Highland Games.... what was his event?
Must have been exciting to be with your daughter as she saw a mountain for the first time, and explored it with her.
