I am thankful for my family and friends. I am especially grateful for the friendships I have made through WWWCOF, sometimes we just need our sisters in the 'valleys', and to share the good times too. Attachments:

I am thankful for the pretty bird I saw , playing in the rainwater collected where in spring and summer I have a garden fountain working. It was yellow, with what seemed to be black and silver (in the winter sunlight) head. I grabbed the camera, but it wasn't having any of that!. I have also had visits from large red bellied, and jet black thrushes, and seen the ocasionally humming bird, as well as literally dozens of sparrows. Daphne

I love birds too Daphne and I hear them every morning and duriing the day I see a lot of Eagles .... there must be a population explosion with them .... I am thankful that my young "friend" Craig will be here this morning, in about 20 minutes, to start the challenge of my front lawn. I have already changed the batteries in my camera so I am ready to take pics when he arrives. Sharon PS .... Lovely to see everyone's posts ... our friendships are so precious I so agree with Jan that we just need our sisters in the "valleys" and in the good times. Anytime you would like to send some of that rain across to Canada we would be so appreciative Louise. Especially here on Paradise Island. We did have the slightest hint of rain early this morning but it was very short lived. It is so dry outdoors -- very dangerous with respect to fires etc. During the yard cleanup today Craig found a couple of sizeable pieces of broken glass ... if the sun shone on these long enough amongst the dry grass we could easily have had a fire. On a much happier note do tell us more about he "car cruise" Barb. Sounds fascinating! Have a wonderful Friday tomorrow --- Jan you have a lovely Friday today and hopefully we will catch up in chat tomorrow. I have a meeting tomorrow morning but it should not take too long. Sharon

Lovely to read the Thankful Thursdays. Daphne it is lovely you have so many beautiful birds there, I feel truly blessed when I look out my kitchen window and see a blue wren, and we have a few others too. It would be lovely to have a fountain working ... and joy of joys.. a humming bird... we don't get them here. Wow Sharon, your yard had really got away on you, doesn't look like the same place in the photo with little girlls and dogs recently. Yes it is wonderful to be getting it in hand for sure. Glad you found that glass too. Great you got the camera out, and look forward to more pics. Pretty Smilebox 'frame'. Yes, Louise, it is a good feeling to get the grass done before it rains.... then you can enjoy the rain. And a very Happy Birthday to your Gran today, have a lovely visit. Barb, I'm kucky I've seen a pic of your show car.... and great you have such a lovely interest with your Hubby. I'm glad I'm getting to know you. Yes we are having a lovely day, though Barry fell at tennis, didn't hit his head thankfully, we just have to remember we can't run backwards. I've got my magazine to read today and a friend is calling in later.... and it is still a prefect gorgeous day. Attachments:

Jan it wasn't my back lawn where the pictures of the kids and dogs were taken .... that we have been able to maintain not too badly with the ride-on lawn mower. Mind you, Craig, did clean up some along the side of the house in the back that had for whatever reason become overgrown. The part that was out of control was half of the front lawn area. A huge section that has never really ever been cleaned up. It just sort of grew wild but with the threat of fires so bad this year I just did not feel comfortable and decided to have it done properly. There are still weeds in the "ditch" all along the front of the property which Craig will be back to do -- he is trying to get his hands on a heavy duty weed wacker to tackle that job. He might be back to finish that off this weekend or early next week. The worse part is once again in front of my former jungle area of the front yard.
I think if I can bring a bob cat in twice a year -- once in the Spring and once in the Fall then I can keep the weeds controlled.
Now that everything is cleared off in the front it should be easy to maintain for the most part -- it is so lovely and park like looking now that I was thinking I might a garden next year. It has been years since I have done that and I do so miss the fresh vegetables. A garden is a lot of work though so I will have to think this out carefully.
