Memories. Just saw some news about the minister that married us 26 years ago. I linked up with him on Facebook when he was returning to US Now today I see that his home is in the San Bruno area in the massive explosion, and the house just three doors down was totally destroyed, and his home was looted but is still there. He says: Looking outside down the street is like nothing I've ever seen in my life. The destruction and devastation is beyond description. Not even the dog's favourite tree is there anymore.Pic from internet. Attachments:

Interesting that you should know someone involved Jan, small world. I've been watching the news reports and it looks horrendous. Nobody needs that kind of stress. I sure hope they get all the help they need.

Malta is a fascinating island in the Mediterranean Sea. it's been invaded by everyone for centuries. I hope to go back there someday. "Megaliths, medieval dungeons and Calypso's Cave – The Maltese Islands are positively mythic. The narrow meandering streets of their towns and villages are crowded with Renaissance cathedrals and Baroque palaces. As the countryside is dotted with the oldest known human structures in the world, the Islands have rightly been described as an open-air museum." Attachments:

Yes, Irene, I would never have dreamed that I would know someone in the area.
We have a very interesting story to tell about our wedding in Sept 1984. It was to be this Ministers first wedding in Australia, but his wife got a bit scotty about it as it was her birthday and she thought he should have kept the day free. However I gave her a lovely scarf for a gift, and we had a lovely wedding with singers and the church band, and the church later became Hillsong, I'm sure everyone has heard of their music. We also had the friend who led the Christian Dance Fellowship of Australia do a solo too. Anyway she had a lovely day.
The next interesting bit is that he is a renowned violinist, and the Christmas following we booked into a caravan on our way to my sisters. When we got there on Christmas Eve, the cleaner had gone away with the key, and they put us in the bridal suite at no extra charge. When we woke on Christmas morning, we turned on the TV (which we would not have had in the caravan) and there was a program of him playing his violin for half an hour, that we weren't expecting. We've always felt especially blessed by this memory.
With love,

Lovely of you to mention Malta, Irene, I know very little about it.
Will you get there on your trip next year?

Sharon I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say people across the world who listen to Christian music know Hillsong. This from Wikipedia: Apart from the four main campuses (in Sydney), Hillsong Church currently has 14 extension services across Sydney. Hillsong Church's international offshoots include Hillsong Church London, in the United Kingdom, Hillsong Church Kiev in Ukraine, Hillsong Church Cape Town in South Africa and Hillsong Church Stockholm in Sweden. Hillsong services are also held in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Moscow. In March 2010, Hillsong announced plans for a new church in New York, United States.
Hillsong is known internationally through its teaching, album sales, and the annual Hillsong Conference, which attracts over 28,000 people. The Hillsong Television program is seen in over 160 countries and Hillsong International Leadership College is attended by over 900 students. Here is one of their songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aYvGE1MKeI

Beautiful Jan.
I understand that my beautiful Canada is one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world but that being said the percentage of Christians is in relatively rapid decline here. Many Canadians identify themselves as adherents of a specific religion, religious group, or denomination, but no longer attend religious services. It can be debated that Canada is becoming increasingly secularized as it seems that institutional religion has a reduced influence on Canadian society. It has been my experience though that Canadians who do not attend services still attach a high degree of importance to religion in their life even though Statistics Canada says that about 35% of people in the province I live in, British Columbia reported they had no religion (second highest in the country, next to the Yukon).
