Tango was origenally a matter for men, as with so many other things at the beginning of the 1900s it was not well looked on for women to take part in this sort of thing. I have seen Tango danced by men, but more dancing around each other in a sort of competetive way, and when it is danced as a couple ( man and woman) it is usually the man that guides the woman. Here is a youtube of two men ( brothers) dancing together, but neither acts as the "guide". Take a look: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYWFuyznWggDaphne

Interesting, thank you Daphne.
I consider myself to be most privileged as I got to see the Argentine Tango danced live and it is beautiful! Mind you the tango dances I watched were danced as couples .... costumes were on fire with colour and the music and the dance is very powerful. Never have really ever seen anything that compares to this.
